We've come to realize that while Old Town Park City offers some fun shopping and dining, nothing compares to balancing that with equal parts solitude, amazing views, & an expansive home for family!
The below details are not intended to be all inclusive. Please email us for any additional question...
Big Dutch is a 5,000 square foot residence that has 4 bedrooms, office, fitness room, as well as a bonus and billiards room. There is a wood burning fireplace in the Great Room, as well as gas burning fireplaces in the Master Bedroom and lower Bonus Room. The entire upper level features radiating heated floors.
The gourmet kitchen features a Wolff range w/ six gas burners. The kitchen is fully equipped to accommodate basic breakfast prep to a full holiday dinner for your family. For additional grilling, there is a fully dedicated gas line BBQ directly out the kitchen door.
Besides the Great Room in winter, the upper deck is our favorite spot in the house. With views that span the slopes of Deer Valley to Mount Timpanogos beyond the Jordanelle Reservoir, this spot is simply fantastic. We've spent countless afternoons enjoying a glass of champagne or wine on the deck and watching the sunsets unfold. I'd likely spend more time having coffee on the deck if I wasn't out at the crack of dawn on a morning training ride!
Every location of this house beautifully captures the views of Deer Valley and the lower deck is no exception. With a fire pit and a complement of adirondack chairs, you'll enjoy straight on views to Deer Valley. Just behind the firepit is the hot tub with the same fantastic views out to Deer Valley, but without the congestion of neighbors all around...completely private.
There are four dedicated bedrooms in the house that will sleep 8 individuals with complete privacy. In the event of family reservations, it will easily accommodate a higher count with the couches of the upper and lower rooms. All bedrooms are equipped with dedicated Vizio SmartTVs and Apple TV's. The "fifth bedroom" of the house is a dedicated office as we have come to realize that guests typically cannot fully unplug from worth and this provides a great spot to be able to take those calls.
The house is fully wired for internet and cable television. The cable television is a streaming service through AllWest and features all main channels and not just the local channels. For movie channels we have always looked to our AppleTV account for renting / buying new movies or streaming via Netflix or another service.
The house is a great place to retreat, but the activity options are endless.
* Jordanelle Gondola - The house is just 10-minutes from the Jordanelle Gondola via the newly opened Jordanelle Parkway. The gondola features direct gondola access to the entire Deer Valley system without the need to drive into town.
* Park City Mountain Resort - For our snowboarding friends who cannot access Deer Valley, PCMR is a mere 7.9 miles away and is directly accessed via SR-248.
*Canyons Resort - Another favorite in the Park City area, Canyons is a 10-miles from the house.
Cycling is one of the activities that originally drew me to the Park City area. With a wealth of Road, Mountain, and Gravel riding, the greater Summit & Wasatch county region will not leave you wanting for mileage or trails.
Climbing? You'll love the Guardsman Pass at 10,000ft, or Pine Canyon on the other side.
Trails? Contact us for references for online trail maps or local shops that can provide more details.
We love our hiking & snowshoeing out the back of the house utilizing the Deer Mountain trail system. Take a few extra minutes to drive into town and you can enjoy hikes up Daly Canyon to the Montage, explore the old mining camps at the top of Town Lift, or pick any of the trails down towards Olympic Center.
There are numerous outfitters in the great Kamas and Oakley area, along with a few in the Park City area on Marsac as you head up towards Guardsman Pass. A few in the Kamas area offer year around riding and we're still anxious to try a winter ride!
Where do you start with Park City? There is a great selection of restaurants that we have come to revisit with some frequency. Don't hesitate to drop us an email and we'll walk through some of our favorites, as well as make some recommendations depending on your preferences. Be aware that during the season you will find most restaurants on OpenTable requiring a credit card for reservation and strict cancellation policies.
There are quite a few options, but our typical stops include:
* Whole Foods - About a 15-minute drive and located in Kimball Junction. The store is huge and often has everything we need.
* The Market at Park City - Just a short 10-min drive from the house and will have everything you need. The Red Bicycle Bread shouldn't be missed!
* State Liquor Store - Adjacent to the market above, this one has a good selection of wine or other beverage needs.
After years in Park City, we still love a walk down Main Street and checking out all the new arrivals at our favorite stores. Between photo galleries, art galleries, clothing boutiques, and other little knick knack shops, Main Street makes for a great afternoon! Grab yourself a little lunch while you're at it.
Just a few of our favorites...
* Riverhorse
* Purple Sage
* No Name Saloon (the buffalo burger is amazing!)
* Wasatch Brewery
* Grappa
* St. Regis at Deer Valley (a favorite for relaxing on the patio)
* Montage (see if you can grab a table for two next to the fireplace!)
* Freshies (the most amazing lobster sandwich you'll ever have)
* Old Town Cellars
* High West Distillery (great cocktails, lunch, or cider on a cold day!)
A brief summary of transportation related logistics.
Salt Lake City airport is an easy 30-35 minutes from the house. Regardless of the time of year, we have seldom encountered a lengthier drive than this. The state of UT does a fabulous job maintaining the roads in even the toughest of weather conditions. Has I-80 ever been closed? Yes, but in the event of fire on two occasions, but never over snow.
The Salt Lake City airport is an International airport and is supported by all major rental car companies. Shop rates in advance and plan to pay a higher price during the winter season.
Lyft and Uber both operate on a regular and consistent basis between SLC and the Park City area. From a personal perspective, we have often scheduled Lyft or Uber to go have a nice dinner or afternoon at the St. Regis or Montage without the worry of driving home after wine or a cocktails.
We are happy to accommodate additional requests during the term of your lease.
We would be happy to arrange housekeeping services during the term of your lease.
If you need to have groceries delivered we have used Grocery Girls in the past and would be happy to share their contact information.
During the course of your lease we are happy to make any arrangement of wines or other beverage needs please do email us so we can secure the proper offering.
This is an exclusively networked private residence w/ implied protocols. The house is located within a neighborhood and loud music and excessive noise outside is highly discouraged.
